Welcome to the closing table. Footprint Capital specializes in investment banking and middle market mergers and acquisitions. Basically, they’re taking names and doing deals.
What does that really mean? Basically, the firm helps business owners (or aspiring owners) buy and sell companies in the middle market—companies with $2 million to $10 million in EBITDA. One of Footprint’s earliest deals involved White Castle and three corporate divestitures. You know White Castle? They sell little square hamburgers aka “sliders.” Well, they sold off 3 of their smaller companies in non-slider related industries, and Footprint Capital helped them do it. Although these deals would have been of interest to the media, no one ever announced the transactions publicly. Anywhere. Ever. We cringe at the thought of missed opportunities, especially if the client would be happy to announce the deal. Sometimes, deals need to stay on the D.L., but this one probably would have generated some significant local publicity.
